Moving Checklist

1 to 2 weeks to go

• Start packing (If you're packing yourself it's never too early.
• Inform any associates and companies you deal with of new address.
• Notify local council of new address.
• Notify your telephone provider's landline & mobile of new address.
• Notify DVLA Swansea SA99 1AR Tel: 08702400010.
• Change address on driving licence.
• Redirect mail.
• Notify bank of new address.
• Notify Credit/store card providers of new address.
• Inform Schools of new address.
• Inform Inland Revenue of new address.
• Inform Insurance & pensions providers of new address.
• Notify Doctors, dentists, opticians and vet of new address.
• Notify TV licence office of new address.
• Notify library of new address.
• Notify any TV and Video rental companies of new address.
• Tell everyone you know of your new address.
• Try and organise a baby sitter for moving day.

3 Days to go

• Notify Electricity Supplier of new address.
• Notify Gas Supplier of new address.
• Notify water Supplier of new address.
• Notify Newspaper & Milk of new address.
• Return any borrowed items to their owners.
• Check with baby sitter for moving day.
• Make up a pack for the other end; include candles, matches, light bulbs, toilet roll cash and some tools.
• Ensure your new keys are ready and label up all your old keys for the new owners.
• Speak to your neighbours regarding the removal van.

2 days to go

• Empty and defrost your fridge freezer.
• Empty and clean all your kitchen cupboards.
• Pack valuable docs.
• Last minute laundry.
• Pack a bag

1 day to go

• Aim to finish packing today.
• Dismantle and disconnect.
• Take down curtains and fixtures.
• Disconnect washing machine.
• Check toiletries box.
• Make up a box of refreshments for next day.

Moving Day

• Drop kids off at the babysitter or designate them an area of the house with toys and snacks.
• Finish packing toiletries.
• Strip all the beds.
• Pack the kettle separate and make sure you have plenty of biscuits.
• Once the house has been emptied, check it thoroughly and wave goodbye.
