10 Tips on buying your first home

  1. Always try and view a property during the day.
  2. Know your budget and stick to it, remember to include cost for furniture and any fees.
  3. Get your finances in place before you start looking, its no good falling in love with the perfect place only to find its outside your limit. Give us a call.
  4. Consider buying with a friend or relative, this may allow you to buy a larger or better located property. Be careful who you buy with though.
  5. Decide on your must haves and the things you are flexible with, the more flexible you are the more choice you'll have.
  6. Write everything down, use a checklist when viewing a property. Get Checklist.
  7. Take someone who has some experience, even a friend or relative who owns their own house.
  8. Location for yourself and for reselling in years to come is all important, if a property is next to a big noisy factory you might struggle to sell the property when you decide to move. Make a list of things important to you like; schools, gym, shops, pubs, restaurants and keep these mind.
  9. Try not to view too many properties in one day, you may get confused.
  10. Be patient, your ideal home might not be on the market right now but it may well be next week, don’t rush into something because you're caught up in the moment.
